What is Samui?
‘Samui’ might come from ‘Sao Muai’ which means the first barrier in Chinese. Or it might come from ‘Mui’ a name of plant in the southern region of Thailand. Whatever it was, nowadays, Samui is one of the most famous islands in Thailand, what the foreigners call the island of coconut.

Chaweng
‘Samui’ might come from ‘Sao Muai’ which means the first barrier in Chinese. Or it might come from ‘Mui’ a name of plant in the southern region of Thailand. Whatever it was, nowadays, Samui is one of the most famous islands in Thailand, what the foreigners call the island of coconut.

Choeng Mon
Bang Rak is a venue of Samui-Phangan ports. It also has a seafood market which gathers many kinds of fresh seafood from fishing boats directly. Therefore, you will see many inexpensive seafood restaurants along the main road. Unfortunately, not many people know that the sand on Bang Rak beach is white and tender as much as on Chaweng Beach.

Not fat from Bang Rak is Choeng Mon Beach. This short curved beach became famous from its cleanliness and peaceful atmosphere. When the sunlight is gone, the beach can be incredibly fascinating. With a beach that is clear and wide surrounded by the orange lights, pairs of couches placed on the beach for couples to lie down, enjoy dinner and whisper under the moonlight and starlight. It is no doubt why Choeng Mon Beach is renowned as the most romantic beach on Samui.

Bo Phut and Fisherman’s Village
Bo Phut Beach is in the north part of Samui. Besides, it has Phangan Island as a shelter to protect it from wind and wave. So you can play in the water on this beach even on a rainy day.

Along with Bo Phut Beach, there are a short row of original wooden buildings, called ‘Fisherman’s Village’. It is recommended to visit twice a day, once in the morning, then again after the sun goes down. The contrast of these different times for this hip street will surely make you surprised.

Calmness and warmth you fell in the morning will be changed to light, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere of a boutique restaurants. Fisherman’s Village is a place where you should come to sit and chill out.

Mae Nam
Mae Nam Beach is located near the main river which is the fresh water source for native people. Therefore, there is a large native community living in this area more than Chaweng, Lamai or Choeng Mon Beach.

Although this beach is a narrow sloping beach, you still enjoy seeing the beautiful scene of coconut trees along the beach. Additionally, there is the crystal clear water and there is not the strong wave, ever silent filling you with the urge to swim in the calm sea.

Lamai
Lamai Beach is the second most well-known beach of Samui. This beach is located south of Chaweng Beach so there are civilized facilities around this lazy destination. Lamai is also peaceful and relaxed. Although activities here such as surfing and jet skiing, there are no different from Chaweng; Lamai Beach is like a heaven for sun-bathing lovers.

The street along the beach became a nice destination at night which you can go shopping and enjoy eating or drinking. But you will find many handicrafts artworks, and unexpected stuffs here.
